Seishin Ryu Virtue of the Month HUMILITY Humility, according to Webster, is the quality or state of being humble. Humble, according to Webster, means not proud, arrogant or assertive; offering things in a spirit of submission or deference (respect to a superior or elder) or regard for another’s wishes. (Webster, 1990). From an article written by Paul T.P. Wang, PhD on humility and developing humility here are some points that fit well with what I would like the karate-ka to understand. 1. Realize our own inadequacies. 2. Realize our need for help and guidance. 3. Receive correction and feedback graciously. 4. Assume responsibility for our failures and mistakes and be willing to learn and grow from them. OSU!!! Assistance and contribution by Sempai Jodi Janssen |
